Artist Statement

The quote “Art is not what you see, but what you make others see” by Edgar Degas, always reminds me of my own definition of what it means to be an artist. I believe that being an artist means being able to create pieces of art that can inspire people to act, start debates, empower movements and other important events, regardless of the medium. A desire to tell a story, designed with empathy to create different connections with my viewers, is one of my primary motivation behind my art pieces. Although it is a challenge, I am committed to sparking people’s imagination and perspective by welcoming their eyes and taking them on a journey through my series of art pieces. Ultimately, my goal is to make something that will capture the viewer's curiosity and keep their attention drawn long enough until they generate their own self-interpretation and intellectual response to a piece that I have created.
